Harbour wrapper for SQLite
I did use the Harbour compiler to made a program to gain access to a
database (with several tables inside) in SQLite format and I want to share
my experience with you.
SQLite is a C library that implements an embeddable SQL database engine.
Programs that link with the SQLite library can have SQL database access
without running a separate RDBMS process.
The distribution comes with a standalone command-line access program
(sqlite) that can be used to administer an SQLite database and which serves
as an example of how to use the SQLite library.
SQLite is not a client library used to connect to a big database server.
SQLite is the server.
The SQLite library reads and writes directly to and from the database files
on disk.
The HbSQLite program is based in the SQLite version 2.8.6.
The program is quite basic, it hasn't OOP aproach, its final goal is to show
the versatility of Harbour to gain access to other database formats.
With HbSQLite is possible the interaction between dbf files and SQLite
tables.
HbSQLite gives the possibility of using a simple, small in size, but
powerful SQL database like SQLite, with the ability to make transactions
using the simplicity of Clipper language.
It's a simple and cheap way of introducing yourself to the world of SQL
databases (with prices usually in range of thousands of U.S. dollars).
The program was specifically built to be used in console mode (DOS window)
for the windows 9x platform and maybe (I haven't tried yet) in the NT
family.
As the source code is provided, and sqlite is originally developed using the
Linux platform, it's possible with some work to get a version of the program
for this operative system.
Although I use the Harbour compiler 042 and the Borland C++ compiler BCC55,
someone who has the Microsoft C51 compiler which was used to build Clipper
5.x and with intermediate knowledge of C language, would get it a Clipper
version.

Database Control

DBC ( Data Base Control ) is an utility that allows complete multi-user
access to xBASE databases and indexes.
This a freeware program and is provided at no charge.
Here you can download three releases of DBC.
- Dbc 3.0 supports DBFCDX (default) and DBFNTX drivers,
- Dbcax 3.0 supports DBFCDXAX (default) and DBFNTXAX drivers (Advantage
Xbase Server).
- Dbchx 3.2 was built not with Clipper, but with Harbour + ADS. This version
uses native ADS SQL calls, so SQL engine here is faster and more powerful,
than in DOS Clipper version of Dbc. To use it you need to have ADS client
dll's version 5.7 . You can download it from here.
With DBC you can:
- open dbf files for browse and editing in shared and exclusive modes,
read/write and readonly modes
- insert,delete,modify columns in browse
- create (and modify structure) dbf files,indexes and tags
- easy toggle workareas for multiple databases
- edit/view in page(s)-per-record mode
- edit/view in traditional row-per-record mode
- execute commands: LOCATE, CONTINUE, SEEK, SET FILTER, GO TO, DELETE,
RECALL, REPLACE, APPEND FROM, COPY TO, REINDEX, PACK, ZAP, COUNT, SUM, SET
RELATION
- print file (columns defined in current browse)
- save and load views (view file have text format, so you can create and
modify it from simple text editor)
- create/save/load/execute SQL QUERIES !!!
- execute scripts !!!
- copy to/paste from Windows clipboard
- convert memos between dbt and fpt format
- pack memos

OnScreen Virtual KeyBoard

Image Editing Tool

2 Pic is a graphical program that you can use to edit your images (like
photographs and drawings). There are already several famous programs that
you can use for this, like PaintShop Pro, PhotoShop and Picture Publisher.
Why should you use 2 Pic instead? Because 2 Pic is much easier to use.
Programs like PaintShop Pro have a lot of functions, but you will need a lot
of time to find out what exactly are all those functions. Sometimes, you get
lost in the big number of functions. That won't be the case with 2 Pic. 2
Pic is designed for ease of use and it has a unique design with the
functions clearly arranged on tabs. That's the big advantage of 2 Pic: with
less time and less experience, you can do very nice things.
2 Pic's name is because you can open two images next to each other. Many
functions of 2 Pic use both images, like merging.

Web File Manager

Mollify is a web file manager for publishing and managing files hosted in a
web server of your choice. Different users can have access to different
files and with different permissions.

Kernel Drivers

REGDRV - instal kernel drivers in Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista
Kernel drivers in Microsoft Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista must be explicitly
registered to be active. This utility,modelled after REGSVR32 (which
installs in-process COM servers), is a simple program that does this. Its
"silent mode" also makes it convenient for installing drivers from a script
or a setup program. The .ZIP file contains a README with usage instructions.
Recent update: the utility is now Vista-compatible, by adding a
(self-signed) code certificate and privilege options in the manifest.

Sutra is a short text viewer. It periodically displays some content from a text file.
