Crypto4 Files is a tool to encrypt & decrypt files & folders. It features Windows Explorer integration, uses powerful algorithms to sign & encrypt files, creates signed & encrypted ZIP archives, can e-mail files/archives, securely delete files, and more. This is a great little tool that fully integrates into the Windows Explorer right-click context menu. It can be used for a number of file and folder tasks, including the creation of ZIP archives that can optionally be signed and/or encrypted. You can use Crypto4 Files to e-mail a file or folder that can also be optionally signed and/or encrypted. It offers a choice of seven encryption algorithms (RC4, DES, 3DES, RC2, etc), and five hashing algorithms. Web Browser

Kwik Browsa is a small, fast Internet Explorer-based Web browser. It features no pop-ups ads, it is easy to use, requires less memory than other browsers, has no menus (only icons & standard shortcut keys are used), and more. This is a simplistic Web browser for anyone who wants the minimum of bells and whistles. There are no menus, just 15 large icons and the normal keyboard shortcuts. It includes two advertising-style links which cannot be removed (there are no options to add or remove toolbars) and the search engine is Google, with no other options offered. As a cutback browser, Kwik Browsa does lack some features we've come to expect, like tabbed windows, but this is the price of being small. Video Downloader

V-Buster Professional is a small program that detects and removes viruses, and restores crashed hard disks. It can read & write inaccessible disks, scans each partition on your hard drive, detects & reports suspect files, and more. Due to the nature of the program, CFS is unable to properly review V-Buster Professional. The author has stated that this is "one of the oldest anti-virus programs in the World. Winner of 5 awards. Runs on all platforms. Extremely small in size and does not slow down your computer." We dispute that it "runs on all platforms" because the author said that it requires Microsoft .NET Framework 2, which means that it cannot run on DOS, Windows 3.x and Windows 95 platforms, even though it appears to be a DOS program.

Space Shooter

Astro Avenger 2 is a top down, scrolling, space shooter. It features 50 levels of blasting madness, 3 levels of difficulty, 35 kinds of enemies, 5 models of your ship, 35 types of weapon, superb ray-traced graphics, lots of powerups to collect, excellent sound effects & background music, and more. This is one of the better top down space-style shooters we have seen. The graphics are awesome, the gameplay is fast, and the sound effects are excellent. In this game you have the opportunity to purchase upgrades at the end of each level. These include ammunition, missiles, repair bots, etc and become more extensive at the end of each level. Astro Avenger 2 is a sophisticated shooter with a good storyline and a hard-to-beat Boss at the end. The game carries advertising from MyPlayCity, but this only appears during program loading so it is hardly intrusive. Space Shooter

Renovatio is a fun, if basic, space shooter in the style of "Warning Forever". It features fast action, on-screen radar, progressively increasing attackers, good sound effects, smooth animated graphics, mouse & keyboard control, requires no installation, and more. This is a shooter designed for shooter fans. It offers just enough challenge to keep a player interested, and some unusual aspects to add that extra little bit. In Renovatio (Latin for "Rebirth") you must collect the debris from the ships you destroy and, if you collect enough within the time limit, you progress to the next level. Fortunately, your ship acts like a magnet so, if you are near enough to the debris, it will be drawn to your ship without you having to chase it. Renovatio is a fun way to kill a few minutes between board meetings, or to act as a refresher when you are slaving over a hot computer. With an addictive aspect which is somewhat surprising for such a standard shooter, Renovatio is worth grabbing from here Renovatio....

Digital Photo Management Tool

PhotoMeister is a Wizard-driven digital photo management tool. It features built-in slideshow & screensaver tools, offers basic image editing (rotate, crop, frame, redeye removal, optimization, etc), includes 7 filters (sharpen, blur, emboss, etc), creates HTML & Flash Web albums, includes an HTML template editor, built-in FTP client, printing Wizard, e-mail Wizard, batch Wizard, and more. This is a sensational tool to gather, edit and present your images in the best possible way. It includes the following Wizards: Photo Album Wizard; Printing Wizard; Web Album Wizard; E-Mail Wizard; Screensavers & Slideshow Wizard; Batch Wizard; Prints Ordering Wizard; and CD ROM Wizard. We found it hard to fault PhotoMeister. It does lack somewhat in the image editing department, but there is a link within the program to your favorite image editor for those occasions when you need to do more than basic editing. Audio CD Ripper

DeepRipper is a fast & efficient audio CD ripper that converts audio from a CD into MP3, OGG or WAV files. It features default settings for simplified ripping, 15 MP3 quality presets, album & track information automatically added, includes all DLLs for each file format, and more. There probably isn't an easier way to convert a standard audio CD into a series of digital audio files you can play on your computer, burn to a MP3 disk (they can hold up to 10 regular CD albums on a single CD), copy to your portable music device, or share with others (copyright considerations notwithstanding). We ripped three audio CDs for our review, two we considered to be rare CDs, and one which is reasonably popular (and listed in all the on-line databases, like FreeDB). For some reason, it was able to get the album/track information about the two rarer CDs, but not for the more popular one! Most strange... Context Menu Enhancer

Context Menu Enhancer is a tool that makes available context menu add-ons for Windows Explorer. Its eight functions are: copy to folder; move to folder; flip 3D switch between Windows; create file listing text; add "Administrator Command Prompt"; encrypt/decrypt, "God Mode" folder (Windows 7 only); and Open in Notepad. Hidden behind a very bland window, Context Menu Enhancer adds some functionality to the right-click context menu in Windows Explorer. Some items are only added to the right-click file menu, some only to the right-click folder menu, and some to both. While most are self explanatory, the one we really liked was adding the God Mode folder, which only works in Windows 7. The God Mode folder (not a name we really liked but it is descriptive of its function) gives over 220 links to Windows tools in about 45 categories. Some of the categories are: Action Center; Administrative Tools; AutoPlay; Backup and Restore; Color Management; Credential Manager; Date and Time; De
fault Programs; and Desktop Gadgets. Most of those categories have multiple items associated with them. For example, the Default Programs category has two items, "Make a file always open in a specific program" and "Set your default programs". The biggest problem with the God Mode folder is that there are just so many categories, and so many items from which to choose. This could have had its own Explorer-like program window with, say, categories on the left and linked items on the right. As it is, this is simply a huge folder that is not so easy to navigate and find what you want. That minor criticism aside, Context Menu Enhancer does offer some worthwhile right-click enhancements, but it is the God Mode in Windows 7 which really makes it worthwhile. Worth Grab it from Here.

3D Platformer

Yo Frankie! is a 3D platformer where you control a squirrel (Frankie) with attitude who takes on a number of different animals. It features 1- & 2-person gameplay, multiple levels, items to collect, awesome 3D graphics, very challenging, excellent sound effects & background music, and more. This is an excellent platformer that is a showcase for the Blender Engine. Your bully-boy squirrel, Frankie, has the ability to throw things (like acorns, or sheep) plus a fighting mode and a jumping mode (includes double jumping and gliding). The fighting mode spins him around quickly and uses his tail as a weapon. Frankie can collect a sort of wooden springboard platform which he can use to jump up much higher, and he can also throw it at the sheep or rats that inhabit his world which mean to do him some harm if he doesn't beat them up first. There is also a lava pit which should be avoided. When you first start you find yourself in a 3D world and, if you look around, you will see a numb
er of wooden signs. Select one for the level you want and walk Frankie into the sign to go there, picking up any acorns you can find along the way. We felt that this is an awkward entry into the game, specially as there is little real help. Yo Frankie! has some awesome 3D graphics, though the control is through the keyboard (or a gamepad/joystick) rather than through the mouse. In a 3D environment, the mouse is usually the best form of control and we found the keyboard cumbersome. If played in 2-person mode, both players share the same keyboard and there is a split screen (somewhat like the Wii and other games' computers). This is not successful and we do not recommend this game in 2-person mode. Maybe an LAN or Internet option will be added, and that would help improve the 2-person gameplay enormously. The download for this game is in ZIP format and, when unpacked, you might wonder what to do next. Contrary to what the author's Website says, you do not have to download the Blender Engine, it is part of the download. When you have unpacked the massive ZIP file, you will find the Windows executionable file to run the game at "\yofrankie_1_1b_bge\yofrankie-win32\yofrankie_player.exe". As there is no installation required, there are also no shortcuts so you will have to go to the EXE file in the games' "yofrankie-win32" folder to launch the game. Mastermint v1.01

Mastermint is a classic game of logic based off the famous Mastermind puzzle. It features sensational graphics, an automated demo mode, an optional computer-plays mode, a solution reveal (cheat), optional screensaver, a good Helpfile, and more. This is an excellent version of the popular Mastermind puzzle. In this game you must determine which four of the seven colored "mints" are used, and in what order they should be. After you have positioned your colored mints, click on the image of the foot and you will, or should, get a number of blue and red mini-mints to indicate how many of the four are the correct color (the blue mini-mints) and how many are in their correct position (the red mini-mints). Visual SlideShow v1.0

Visual SlideShow creates a Flash-like slideshow using HTML, JavaScript and CSS. You can adjust the image size & quality (both thumbnail & main images), there is a choice of 5 transition effects, optional auto-play & auto-loop, you can publish to the server or desktop, there is a choice of slideshow themes, you can import photos directly from Flickr or PhotoBucket, it includes the Mootools JavaScript plugin, the generated code is fully XHTML compliant, and more. This is an awesome tool for creating stunning slideshows of your photos. You can publish them directly to your server for on-line display, or to your desktop where the code can be incorporated into an existing HTML page. Alternatively you can view them on your desktop using your Web browser or even burn them to a CD for distribution to your family and friends. Simple to use, just drag 'n drop your photos into Visual Slideshow, re-arrange their order if required, adjust the settings in the Gallery Properties dialog box
(image sizes, transition effect, etc) and then click on the Publish button. The final slideshow is excellent, and the machinery to run your slideshow (not counting the photos) is a tiny 110kB. AirStrike 3D

AirStrike 3D : Operation W.A.T. is a 3D helicopter shoot-em-up for 1 or 2 players. It has 20 missions to complete (including a tutorial mission), there are 10 helicopters to fly, 10 primary weapons to fire, 5 missile types, 3 Bosses to destroy, it has 5 levels of difficulty, 4 different cameras to choose from, a photo-realistic 3D landscape with real-time shadows, dynamic color lighting & reflections, and more. This is an excellent shooter where you complete various missions over different types of terrain with both day and night ops. There are lots of powerups to collect along the way, which give you increased health, various weapons, missiles, ammunition, etc. Control is primarily mouse controlled, though the keyboard is also used. Graphics are excellent with smooth animation and great landscapes. Most importantly, there are lots and lots of enemies to destroy.
